The project AstroORDAS aims at developing an ecosystem of cloud-based services and technologies to provide Open Research Data (ORD) Analysis Services in astronomy, astroparticle and cosmology.

Modern astronomy faces an avalanche of diverse data, sometimes further complicated by the need for immediate and necessarily automated reaction on elusive cosmic phenomena. Furthermore, previously disjointed astrophysical research communities recently reached a stage where they routinely combine their efforts to address shared scientific challenges, leading to emergence of multi-messenger astrophysics. A scientist tackling the nature of astrophysical objects while facing this broad, rapidly changing landscape may often find it difficult to effectively employ their scientific intuition, make progress, and share their discoveries while maintaining and improving on veracity and reproducibility of scientific results.

In the AstroORDAS project we are building tools empowering researchers to leverage vast and diverse astronomical Open Research Data. We are doing this by supporting Astrophysical Data Centers with an ecosystem of cloud-based services and technologies serving to provide added value to the data with the aim to implement the Findable Accessible Interoperable Reusable (FAIR) principles in collection, elaboration, and dissemination of research artifacts, building upon our Multi-Messenger Online Data Analysis (MMODA) platform.

Our collaboration supports data centers for several space-based missions and ground-based observatories. We are extending MMODA to new data analysis types and integrating it with the emerging world-wide network of online astronomical ORD Analysis Services (ORDAS).

To foster interoperability, we use and develop schemas, vocabularies, ontologies, and models based on semantic linked data and knowledge graphs, leveraging them as a foundational element of the platform and service development.

In our work we pay particular attention to finding synergies with complementary projects on local, national and international level, recognizing that collaboration and integration is at the core of our project philosophy.
