Science performance & data analysis workshop

University of Geneva, 12-14 February 2024

The 1st XRISM science performance and data analysis Workshop aims at providing the scientific community in Europe with a comprehensive view of the scientific performance of the XRISM mission following its successful commissioning and the start of the nominal scientific operations. The Workshop is scheduled well in advance of the deadline for proposal submission to the European Guest Observer Announcement of Opportunity (4th of April 2024). The workshop will be structured into a a series of presentations on XRISM science, scientific performance and data analysis – held by JAXA, NASA and ESA specialists - and hands-on sessions where the participants will be able to accomplish, with the support of experts, the:

  • Installation of the XRISM data analysis and simulation software;
  • Analysis the data of the Early Release Science targets, specifically designed to provide a glimpse to the revolutionary scientific capabilities of the XRISM payload;
  • Mock simulations of prospective GO targets.

Early-career scientists are particularly encouraged to join. We expect that no registration fee will be requested to attend the Workshop.

While lectures will be carried out in hybrid form, hands-on sessions will require the physical presence of the participants at the workshop venue.
